Obituary for Norma C. Force

Norma Clarie Force, 81, of Cheyenne, died January 13th at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne. She was born August 9, 1936 in Sheridan, WY. to Kenneth and Hazel Samson. With great joy, yet sorrow as strong as the Wyoming winds, Norma now rests in the loving arms of her LORD. She spent most of her younger years in Gillette, WY, graduating from Campbell County High School in May of 1954. She married the love of her life, Dave Force, on August 10, 1959, who remained at her side until she arrived home. To know Norma was to love her! She touched lives beyond measure through her numerous volunteer efforts, and was the epitome of love, grace, patience, virtue, and especially faith; apparent to all in her service. She was the ultimate homemaker, caring for family, friends, and community as well as her beloved church as a founding member of the Highlands Presbyterian Church. Her service included: treasurer, secretary, Sunday school teacher, and more. Her adventure into scouting began as Den mother for Cub Scouts, moving to Girl Scouts, which she actively remained involved years after her daughters were past their age. She served as President of the Wyoming Chapter; the highlight of her service. She participated in Dress-a-doll competition (awarded top honors), ribbon cutting for the new Governor’s Mansion, numerous teas at both, conferences-NYC included, camps and more. Rodeos were always a part of her life; it naturally followed as her youngest daughter belonged to Little Britches, so did Norma, volunteering her time, sewing numerous outfits required for Princess/Attendant roles, and state competitions. She ran the gamut on other services from election worker until retirement. Norma delivered for Meals on Wheels with Dave. She loved camping, putting waders on to fish, creating gorgeous dolls, especially her famous German Chocolate cakes, canning, syrups, jellies, peaches and corn. Norma began classes at LCCC, proud of straight A’s as her youngest entered teens, leading to her work at SE mental Health Center where she enjoyed close friendships. Norma also had a passion for cards, especially Bridge. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Norma loved life, lived fully, and taught others to do the same. Norma was preceded in death by her first husband; O. Paul Dobbs, father and mother Kenneth and Hazel Samson, brothers; Ken (Butch) and Robert Samson, and a daughter Kathy Boheler. She leaves behind a legacy of love with her husband Dave, her children; Lloyd (Brenda) Force of GA, Barbara McAmis of CO, Janice(Matt) Hills of TX, Son-in-law Kevin Bohler of WY, along with 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church on January 18th at 1:30 pm, Burial will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. A reception will be held after the committal at Highland Presbyterian Church at 3:00pm at 2390 Pattison Ave. In lieu of Flowers, Contributions can be to the Highlands Presbyterian Church or Girl Scouts of America.
